House burgled whilst elderly couple at home in Marsaxlokk

Police were informed of a residential burglary early this morning at 02:05 on Triq San Guzepp in Marsaxlokk.

A husband and wife of 83 years of age had fallen victim to the theft.

From investigations, police determined that while the elderly couple were at home, some persons entered their home demanding their money. The 83 year old man was then tied up.

The thieves stole a small amount of money as well as some jewellery.

An ambulance took the couple to Mater Dei hospital for necessary treatment. While the woman did not suffer any injuries, and the man was said to be suffering from minor injuries.

Police magistrate Hayman was informed of the case and appointed experts to assist in the inquiry.

Police investigations into the case are still ongoing.
