MDA hit by resignations from top-level officials

The Malta Development Association has been hit by resignations from top officials within its council, MaltaToday is informed.

Pawlu Attard the MDA’s former Secretary General, and former council members Pio Vassallo and Anton Camilleri Tal-Franciz tendered their resignation today.

All three members are established developers in the hospitality and construction sector. Camilleri was also involved in the Manoel Island project and was touted as taking over the project before government’s announcement the land would be handed back over to the state.

MaltaToday is informed the resignations were tendered following disagreement with a decision by the association taken last week.

Questions have been sent to the Malta Development Association.

MDA confirms resignations

An MDA spokesperson on Friday afternoon confirmed the resignations revealed by MaltaToday.

“The Malta Development Association thanks all three council members for their service, their commitment, and the contribution they have made during their time on the council,” the statement read.

President Michael Stivala also expressed the association’s appreciation for their work and dedication, and thanked them for the role they played in supporting the association and its objectives.

“The Malta Development Association will continue to move forward with full focus and responsibility, committed to representing the sector in a serious, balanced, and constructive manner in the national interest,” the MDA said.
