Cloud of smoke arises from Magħtab Wasteserv Plant

An industrial fire has broken out at the Wasteserv Plant in Magħtab, producing a cloud of smoke on Wednesday.

Sources have outlined the fire was reported at around 11:35 am.

Firefighters part of the Civil Protection Department (CPD) are dealing with the fire and police are awaited on the scene, while emergency response operations are ongoing.

No injuries have been reported, however residents in nearby localities, including Bugibba, St Paul’s Bay, Salini, and Qawra, were advised by the CPD to keep all doors and windows closed as a precaution due to smoke and fumes in the area.

The situation is being monitored closely by the relevant authorities.
