Get rid of this popcorn

The Food Safety and Security Authority (FSSA) issued a warning on a popcorn product by Salati Preziosi.

The product must not be consumed since it may contain excessive levels of Tropane Alkaloids (Atropine and Scopolamine).

Tropane alkaloids are a group of chemical compounds responsible for the natural toxic effects of certain plants.

Peripheral symptoms of toxicity include dry mouth, flushed skin, dilated pupils, and blurred vision. The chemicals can also cause hallucinations, delirium, confusion, and potential respiratory failure.

Authorities said consumers should not eat the product and advised them to dispose of it or return it to the store from which it was purchased.
