The Electrogas power station tripped at 10:08am on Monday, affecting electricity supply in several areas across Malta and Gozo, Enemalta said.

Enemalta said in a statement that it immediately activated standby generation facilities and began restoring supply to the affected localities within 13 minutes. "Electricity was restored to all affected customers by 10:50am," the power company said.

The Electrogas plant is formally called Delimara Power Station 4. A similar fault happened earlier this month.

Monday's widespread power cut hit half of Gozo and several areas from the north to the south of Malta.
