Maltese national investigated over cash and gold

A Maltese national investigated by Italian Police after the discovery of €1.5 million in cash and 50 kilograms of gold ingots in his villa.

A Maltese national, who owns a villa in Arezzo, Italy is being investigated by Italian Police after the discovery of €1.5 million in cash and 50 kilograms of gold ingots at the villa.

The Italian Police have discovered that the villa was being used as a base for money laundering. 

The Maltese national, who was not named by the Italian Police was put on the wanted list. The police operations this week led to the arrest of 15 persons in 15 Italian regions.

In an operation dubbed 'Fort Knox' the Italian Police ceased around €1.5 million, 50 kilograms in gold ingots and 100 kilogrames in silver at the villa belonging to the Maltese national in Arezzo.
