From MEPs to Deputy Leaders
Simon Busuttil and Louis Grech have unexpectedly gone from senior MEPs in Brussels to Gonzi and Muscat’s sidekicks in a matter of weeks.

2012 will be remembered for its endless list of extraordinary political events which rattled and changed the Maltese political landscape.
Few would have thought at the beginning of the year that Nationalist MEP Simon Busuttil and Labour counterpart Louis Grech would have ended the year as deputy leaders of their parties.
After a series of unexpected events, Busuttil and Grech suddenly took centre stage and the two respected MEP's were picked to be Lawrence Gonzi and Joseph Muscat's second in command.
The two new deputy leaders will play an important role in the 2013 electoral campaign which will centre around trustworthiness, ability, reliability and acumen.
