Sources close to the organizers of the Rock Opera Gensna told Maltatoday that the both upcoming shows during the coming weekend will be put up at the MFCC in Ta' Qali.

Yesterday’s accident at the MFCC - when a structure collapsed onto the stage leaving three injured and one critical - left the organizers with a big question mark. “The show must and will go on”, said one of our sources.

But Producer David Borg this evening confirmed that the shows will be held at the MFCC.

Borg, said the arch was an integral part of the MFCC tent and was also used in all productions for light fixtures. He made it clear that the Gensna stage did not collapse.

Contacted by Maltatoday, Borg confirmed that the Saturday and Sunday shows will be put up as scheduled.

There were moments of uncertainty when the organisers were considering a change of venue: “Safety is our main concern and we did not exclude staging the show elsewhere”, said he told Maltatoday.

Meanwhile, Emanuel Ronayne, 48 from Fgura, is still in critical condition in the Intensive Treatment Unit.  He suffered chest injuries including broken ribs, spinal injuries and other serious injuries.

Three others, aged 26 from Kalkara, 31 from Cospicua, and 23 from Fgura, were treated for minor injuries and shock. The four were employees of Nexos and Raymond Vella Lighting and under the structure at the time of the accident.

On a curious note yesterday the police published a photographs of the fallen structure on the Facebook page. But just a few hours later they were removed. Asked why the photos were removed, the answer we were given was that there was something wrong with the photographs and denied that they were given instructions by somebody else.
