Opposition Leader Simon Busuttil has filed libel proceedings against the Labour Party over a press release which was sent to the media on Monday.

In its statement, PL had said that Simon Busuttil was “caught in a serious case of fraud of public funds”.

PN is insisting that what the Labour Party is implying is a lie.

“The statement by PL shows the low-level politics that was reached by Joseph Muscat,” the PN said.

A magisterial inquiry was launched into the fuel consumption of the official car used by Opposition leader Simon Busuttil.

Following this news, PN leader suspended his driver while questioning the Speaker’s intentions as news broke out a day after Busuttil presented proposals on good governance.

In comments to the media, Busuttil had said that he did not know what the Magisterial Inquiry was trying to establish.
