In the Press: Government delaying legal action against GWU

The government is not following recommendations by the National Audit Office and the Attorney General to commence legal proceedings against the General Workers’ Union for breach of contract over its Valletta headquarters.

At least 200 Maltese workers have lost their jobs as a result of the sharp decline in international oil prices. Economy minister Chris Cardona suggested that these people will be able to find employment at the new maritime hub at the Marsa Shipbuilding site.

German MEP Manfred Weber, chairman of the European People’s Party, insisted that Opposition MP Jason Azzopardi should not face a criminal defamation complaint filed by the former police chief Peter Paul Zammit.
