153 same-sex civil unions have been registered since April 2014
One hundred and twenty same-sex couples have entered into a civil union since the introduction of the law in April 2014.
Replying to a parliamentary question, civil liberties minister Helena Dalli said that in addition to the 120 same-sex civil unions that took place and were registered in Malta, another 15 couples have entered into a civil union abroad and subsequently registered their status in Malta while a further 18 couples were married abroad and had their marriage registered in Malta.
Moreover, Dalli said that four couples have been approved and are eligible for adoption, with one having already adopted a child.
