The next general election will be held around March 2018, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has confirmed.

Speaking on the radio programme Djalogu on One Radio, Muscat said that Labour’s electoral manifesto will include proposals that build upon the work carried out under the current legislature.

“If it wasn’t for the work carried out by this government, then several of our manifesto proposals would not have been possible,” he said.

In his interview, Muscat admitted that the Panama Papers scandal disappointed him, but argued that the government had made good on its pre-electoral promises to reduce electricity bills, improve the economy and reduce unemployment.
