Transport Malta will begin carrying out “extensive” roadworks in the area of the Roman Villa in Rabat today, with the works being done in phases until the second week of August 2017, the company announced today.

The roadworks, which will begin at the corner with a bank in the area and continue until Rabat cemetery, will also include the square in front of the Roman Villa.

According to Transport Malta, the road will remain accessible to traffic to avoid inconvenience as much as possible. However, Transport Malta added that there will be periods when parts of the road will be closed to traffic.

On Thursday, transport minister Ian Borg identified the area nest to the Roman Villa as one of the roads in “a disastrous state” that would undergo “extensive” works.
