Knife-wielding thief holds up shop's teen cashier for money

A masked man got away with cash register money after allegedly pointing a knife at the store employee in Birkirkara yesterday evening, the Police have said.

The Police claimed they got a call at around 8.10pm yesterday asking for assistance on Triq Guze Orlando in Birkirkara.

The thief stole money from the shop before he drove away in a vehicle. A 19-year old male employee had been behind the cash register at the time of the incident. Two women of 24 and 34 years of age respectively were also inside the store. 

Magistrate Claire Zammit Stafrace appointed an inquiry and called for the assistance of several experts.

Police investigations are ongoing.
