EU issues petroleum sanctions on Libyan regime

Given the “seriousness of the situation” the European Union has issued a series of new sanctions on the Libyan regime, intended to block all trade in petroleum products and their bunkering.

In a statement, the EU has ordered Member States to freeze all financial assets belonging to 39 people and prohibit naval trade towards six harbours and block operations by 49 companies.

The sanctions include the prohibiting of travel of the 39 people into the European Union.

The list of names and companies will be published in tomorrow’s gazette of the European Union.
