Sweden started on the attack and had a good chance on the 5th minute after Ekdal won his side a free-kick when he was being bundled over by Nainngolan. Kallstrom stepped up and sent a dangerous cross into the middle of the penalty area, where it found Berg, but the striker could only fire his shot straight at Courtois in the middle of the goal.

The Belgians responded on the 20th minute when a lovely pass from the left wing was set to find Lukaku, who had made a great run into the penalty area. However, Johansson read the flight of the ball brilliantly and dived in front of the pass to stop it from finding the big striker.

Ibrahimovic went close to score his first goal in the tournament on the 26th minute. Berg, received the ball with his back to goal before poking it back to Ibrahimovic. The striker immediately unleashed a low shot from 20 yards out which managed to beat Courtois before flying a yard or so wide of the far post.

Ibrahimovic was close again on the 50th minute. From a throw-in on the left side, the Paris St. German striker failed to guide his header towards goal and instead sent it a yard or two over the top of the crossbar.

Ten minutes later, Belgium appealed for a penalty after Meunier broke down the right-hand side of the Swedish penalty area before trying to whip a cross which seemed to hit the underside of Granqvist's arm. Belgium players immediately threw their hands in the air and screamed at the referee to point to the spot, but he waved his head and allowed play to go on.

Belgium were denied on the 67th minute as Isaksson made an excellent save. Belgium quickly broke away on a swift counter-attack through the middle of the pitch. De Bruyne embarked on a great run before unleashing a rocket of a shot from the edge of the penalty area, but the Sweden goalkeeper got down well and tipped the effort round the post and out for a corner.

Isakkson was key again on the 73rd minute after Lukaku flied past Johansson and embarked on a  run towards the Swedish penalty area. He penetrated the box and immediately tried to fire a low shot under the body of Isaksson, but the goalkeeper pulled off an excellent stop to deny the striker the opening goal of the night.

Two minuter later, Ibrahimovic went close again. With his back to goal just outside of the Belgium box, the striker out-muscled Vermaelen before being bundled over by the centre-back, resulting in a free-kick in a very dangerous position. He stepped up and fired a great strike from the set-piece that bounced towards the bottom right-hand corner of the net, but Courtois did well to get down low and push the effort away from danger.

The Belgians responded on the 81st minute as Mertens embarked on a wonderful weaving run as he went past two Sweden players on the edge of the penalty area before shooting. His strike looked set to find the bottom left-hand corner of the net, but, once again, Isaksson was there to push the effort away from danger.

Wilmots’s side went ahead 3 minutes later from a stunning strike by Nainngolan. Hazard broke down the left flank before cutting inside and sent a deep, bouncing cross over to Nainngolan. The midfielder was left in acres of space and comfortably trapped the ball before unleashing an absolutely world-class strike from 25 yards out that flew past the outstretched fingertips of Isaksson and into the back of the net.

The Belgians were close to double the lead on the 90th minute after Hazard broke down the left wing on an excellent run before cutting inside. He then sent a great pass back to the Benteke, who was in a pocket of space inside the box, but his low strike ended up being carried away by another strong diving save from Isaksson.

This result means that the Belgians placed second after Italy, while Sweden are out of the competition after collecting only 1 point.
