Ħamrun Spartans register their third win of the season

In a clash that produced seven goals, Ħamrun registered a 5-2 win over Mosta to earn their third win of the season.

The Spartans went ahead after just six minutes when Haruna Garba took hold of the ball on the edge of the penalty area and fired a shot past Yenz Cini.

Ħamrun managed to double the score seven minutes later. From a freekick, Jake Grech saw his shot hitting the post. The rebound fell for Jorge Mesqueu Neto who headed home.

Steve D’Amato’s side kept dominating and scored their third goal on the 29th minute. Garba went past Triston Grant before delivering the ball towards Jake Grech who finished past Cini to make it 3-0.

Mosta failed to hit back and suffered another goal on the brink of half time. From a corner, Garba jumped high to meet Jake Grech’s cross and headed the ball inside the net.

Mosta tried to make a reaction in the second half and reduced the margin on the 48th minute. Kemar Reid sent a low shot that gave Matthew Farrugia no chance.

However, Ħamrun scored again on the 73rd minute. Saturday Nanapere was brought down inside the penalty area by Emerson Vella and the referee pointed to the spot. From the spot kick, Grech made no mistake.

Ten minutes from time, the blues managed to score their second goal. From a free kick, Reid fired a shot that ended up inside the net.
