BOV Premier League | Mosta 3 – Floriana 3

Following a number of positive results which include a win in their previous match against Valletta, Floriana are in a safe position, but they still need to win points in order to ensure mathematical safety.

The same can be said for Mosta. Mark Miller’s men also came into this match looking for a win so that they will be able to move further away from the relegation zone. Mosta were coming from a 1-1 draw against Hibernians.

Mosta made a bright start to the match and broke the deadlock after 14 minutes. Akeem Garnet Roach fired a strong shot from the edge of the penalty area that stunned Ini Etim Akpan.

The score became 2-0 four minutes later. Demir Imeri spotted Akpan out of position and sent a volley from nearly half pitch that completely stunned Floriana’s goalkeeper.

Floriana pulled one back on the 38th minute. Following a cross, Emerson Marcelina served Kristian Keqi who placed the ball inside the net from close range.

Guido Ugolotti’s side started the second half on the offensive in their attempts to equalise. They went close on the 49th minute as Tiago da Silva Galvao delivered the ball towards Keqi who finished over from inside the penalty area.

Floriana equalised on the 59th minute. Brandon Paiber’s delivery from a free-kick was met by Arthur Oyama who headed home.

Andreas Vella denied Floriana from forging ahead for the first time in the match on the 70th minute. Galvao went on a great run inside the penalty area before firing a shot that got the best out of Mosta’s goalkeeper.

Mosta hit back three minutes later. From a free-kick, Rafael Morisco drilled a low shot that got neutralised by Akpan.

However, Floriana forged ahead on the 80th minute. Following a free-kick, substitute Terence Vella saw his effort going past Vella.

Mosta hit back immediately and equalised the score again three minutes later. Imeri’s cross found James Brincat who finished inside the net from close range.

Mosta created another opportunity on the 86th minute. Roach’s powerful drive from distance was saved by Akpan.

During the additional time given by the referee, Davy N’Guessan Angan of Mosta drilled a low shot that was parried by Akpan.
