Notte Bianca 2011 calls for artists and craftspersons

This year’s edition of Notte Bianca – taking place across the streets of Valletta on October 1 – will see the capital city come a live with people mingling, walking and moving in all directions enjoying as much as possible the various forms of entertainment on offer during the night.

Notte Bianca is now in its sixth year, and continues to promise an unforgettable evening that brings together local and foreign artists offering a wide range of art and musical forms from classical to contemporary.

Cultural venues, state palaces and museums open their doors almost all night, with many playing host to visual art exhibitions, dance and theatre performances.  The streets and cultural venues come alive with a programme of entertainment designed to hold something of appeal for everyone.

As part of the Notte Bianca experience – which offers an exciting and electric atmosphere until the early hours – the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts wishes to set up an ‘open air art market’ where a variety of art and craft works by local artists will be set up. This market will provide a dedicated space that brings together all types of art forms and crafts, to create a one-of-a-kind open air shopping experience for visitors and locals alike. The market can feature a variety of works including paintings, photography, sculpture, pottery, jewellery, and much more.

Those interested in showing off their artistic and craft products on this night, the MCCA is inviting all artists and craftsperson who would like to set up in the ‘open air art market’ to forward their expression of interest.

The ‘open air art market’ will be set up in a specific outdoor location in Valletta and will operate on Saturday, October 1 from 17:00 to approximately 03:00. Interested parties are to send an expression of interest by no later than September 1 to [email protected] or by post or by hand to 230, Republic Street, Valletta.

Further information may be obtained from the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts office between 09:00 and 13:00.
