Gianpula Fridays
17 nights of partying (began in May 27) featuring DJs Pierre Cordina, Tony Tony, Clayton J, JJoy, Ruby, Joseph Armani, Toby, MyKill and Carl Bee at the Main Room and Groove Gardens of Gianpula, limits of Rabat from 23:00 till 04:00. Entrance is at €6.

Bridge Bar Jazz Nights
Live jazz every Friday night at Bridge Bar, by Victoria Gate, Valletta from 21:00. Line up of locally established jazz musicians includes Marc Galea, Lawrie Simpson, Walter Vella, Effie Azzopardi and Eric Santucci. The schedule will also include some foreign surprises, visiting sporadically through the summer.

Brass hammering and art
Exhibition by Sicilian painter, Corrado Iozia at Brookies, Victoria. Iozia specialises in traditional antique style etching and hammering
on brass sheets, some of which he leaves raw and some which he colours. The exhibition also features paintings on canvas.

An exhibition of ten works by Italian artists from Calabria inspired by the works of Mattia Preti and purposely produced for

The Papal Corpus Christi Procession during the reign of Pope Gregory XVI
An exhibition of illustrations and memorabilia at St John’s Hall Cittadella Centre for Culture and the Arts related to this annual procession by Salvatore Busuttil (artist of Gozitan origin) between 1837 and 1839. For more information log on to [email protected].

Gozo Music Festival

Rockestra
Musical concert in aid of the Community Chest Fund at MFCC, Ta’ Qali from 20:00. With musical arrangements by Sigmund Mifsud, who also conducts the orchestra. Delicata Wine Festival

Patches Fair
The eighth edition of the Patches Market, featuring an array of local handmade crafts and food at Upper Barrakka Gardens, Valletta from 16:30 to 22:00. With music from Claire Tonna in the evening.

Gharb Day
Various events – including dance and music by local artists – at the Main Square, Gharb, Gozo. Presentation of certificates to students attending courses will be organised by the council, including presentation of Ġieħ l-Gharb award.

Festa Bdiewa f’Burmarrad
An activity celebrating farmers’ work at Burmarrad church parvis. On Sunday morning, Burmarrad farmers will stage a parade with their tractors and have their vehicles and tools blessed. During the two-day activity, besides exhibits of traditional tools, plants and agricultural products there will be Maltese folk music. Organised by The Burmarrad Administrative Committee and the Burmarrad Feast Committee in collaboration with the Parliamentary Secretariat for Consumers, Fair Competition, Local Councils and Public Dialogue as well as the Malta Tourism Authority.

SEPTEMBER 7
Commemoration of Malta’s Sieges – Mass
Solemn Concelebrated Mass with the participation of the Reverend Chapter and Clergy of the parish and local dignitaries, commemorating the Great Siege of 1565 and the Second World War 1939-1943 at Collegiate Basilica of the Nativity of Our Lady, Xagħra, Gozo. Starts at 09:00.

SEPTEMBER 7
Commemoration of Malta’s Sieges – Ceremony
Commemorative ceremony including a re-enactment by the Xagħra Re-enactment Historical Group acting the entrance of Grand Master Jean de La Valette proclaiming the 9 September as a national feast day, the speech on the occasion and the laying of wreaths in front of the Great Siege Monument. Held at Victory Square, Xagħra, Gozo from 10:00.
