Book

I recently picked up Jimi Hendrix’s biography. I love his music and there’s something about his quirkiness that I was always drawn to. I first listened to Hendrix when I was around 10 years old, but I didn’t know much about his life. As my band, The Cassettes started to write our debut EP, I wanted to delve into the outrageous life and mind of this guitar genius.

Film

A Complete Unknown is a biopic about Bob Dylan that I highly recommend. Firstly, Timothée Chalamet’s performance was outstanding. Secondly, I really enjoyed the film because it shows how courageous Dylan was with his music and how he refused to be confined by the expectations placed on him or the folk box people tried to fit him into.

By the end of the film, he performs the music he truly wanted to play. I think most artists struggle with this. Why should a musician create something just to meet the requirements of a radio station or Tick Tock? Be like Dylan and just do your thing.

Internet and TV

I don’t really follow any influencers. I use social media for the memes. I love a good meme and funny reels. My algorithm changes regularly.

Music

This literally changes every week. However, I will say this: Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band is a masterpiece. Foxey Lady is one of Jimi Hendrix’s greatest songs of all time. John Mayer is a modern-day genius and Brodu are currently my favourite Maltese band. Oh, and Biggie over Tupac.

Place

I love Sicily. There’s something so tranquil about the place and so laid back. I love the Sicilian lifestyle, which almost reminds me of what life used to be in Malta 20 odd years ago. It’s a brilliant get away. It’s so easy to get to and there’s something new to discover every time. I love it.
