Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis expressed his confidence in the ongoing success of the free annual concert Isle of MTV, whose ninth edition will be taking place at the Granaries in Floriana tomorrow evening.

Speaking on the same stage that will host international pop stars Enrique Iglesias and Nicole Scherzinger, Zammit Lewis said that Isle of MTV “puts Malta on the map of international music”.

“The festival is also of great help to Malta from a tourism point of view, as it shows that as a destination, we’re about more than just ‘sun and sea’,” Zammit Lewis added.

During tomorrow’s show, Scherzinger and Enrique Iglesias will be joined by popular British hip-hop artist Dizzee Rascal, along with American electro-pop singer Kiesza and DJ Hardwell.

This year’s edition of the concert will also feature a local act: Funk Initiative, who are fronted by Malta’s former Eurovision hopeful Gianluca Bezzina and who were chosen by popular vote in a ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition, which took place online in the week’s ahead to Isle of MTV.
