Off-duty police inspector catches thief in Żurrieq

The off-duty inspector was approached by a number of people at around 8pm who told him that their mobile phones, jackets, and bags were missing as they were visiting the church in Żurrieq

An off-duty police officer arrested a man who allegedly stole bags and jackets from the Żurrieq church.

According to the police, the off-duty inspector was approached by a number of people at around 8pm who told him that their mobile phones, jackets, and bags were missing as they were visiting the church in Żurrieq.

They informed him of a suspicious man seen walking in the church. 

He then started looking for the person and found him walking in Vjal Blue Grotto, where he was arrested. The man is a 50-year-old Somali national who lives in Paola, as the missing items were allegedly found on his person.

The inspector requested assistance, and the suspect was taken to the police station where he was held for further investigations.
