WATCH | Arrested man attacks three police officers in Valletta

A man who was arrested following an altercation with another individual in Valletta ended up attacking the three police officers, who were on site, the police have confirmed.

The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon at around 12:30pm on Triq San Mark, near Triq San Patrizju, where two Maltese men became involved in an argument.

The police intervened to stop the argument, which, however, escalated, prompting both men to be arrested. However, video footage circulating online shows one of the men becoming violent with the police, while handcuffs are dangling from his hand. He is seen hitting the three officers, pushing them away and using threatening language towards them.

A police spokesperson confirmed that the two men involved in the argument suffered injuries and were hospitalised. Their medical condition is not yet known but they remain under arrest. No information was available as to whether the police officers sustained any injuries.
