Seven years imprisonment for trafficking cannabis

Drug trafficker imprisoned for 7 years and fined €15,000 after he admits before going on trial.

Justice Lawrence Quintano sentenced Brian Joseph Mangion, 42, of Qormi, to seven years imprisonment and fined him €15,000 after he admitted to trafficking cannabis and being in possession of cannabis and cocaine.

Mangion admitted to the charges before going on a trial by jury.

On 16 May 2008, the police received an anonymous phone call at Zabbar Police Station. Following the call, Ali Ibrahem Eldessouki was arrested when cannabis resin was found in his possession.

During the investigations, Eldessouki informed the police he had bought drugs from the accused. 

Mangion was arrested on 29 May 2008. Over a kilo of cannabis resin was found in his residence.
