Man accused of defiling minor after MTV concert

Jamal Ahmed Ali was granted bail after facing charges of defiling a minor after this week's Ilse of MTV concert, as well as of having offended public morals and holding the minor against her will.

The 27-year-old man was said to have followed a 16-year-old girl into Nelson Avenue, at around 12:35am as the 50,000 strong crowd departed from the Floriana granaries where the MTV party was held, and then groped her breasts and bottom.

Ali pleaded not guilty to the charges, and was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €5,500. Inspector Godwin Scerri prosecuted. Ali was assisted by a legal aid lawyer. Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras presided.
