Man acquitted of defrauding €30,000

Court rejects claims that €30,000 were lent to be re-invested.

Noel Mifsud was today acquitted of defrauding three people the sum of €30,000.

Seven years ago, Jonathan Fenech, Donatella Fenech Manche and Alfred Fenech handed Mifsud €30,000 on behalf of MWJ Co Ltd. They said the money was passed to the accused with the intent to be invested.

But defence lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri insisted that Mifsud was only lent the money.

The defendant claimed no fraud was committed and that matter was of civil nature rather than criminal.

Magistrate Demicoli upheld their argument and acquitted Mifsud.

So Mifsud now pays back the "loan", or does he get away with that too?
