Police have questioned a Cospicua man who stabbed his brother in an altercation in Valletta.

A man was stabbed at 8:20am in the course of an argument today at City Gate, Valletta. The victim was rushed to the Floriana Health Centre, but the aggressor is still on the loose after escaping before police arrived on the scene.

MaltaToday is informed that the victim and the aggressor, 28 from Cospicua, are brothers.

The aggressor is known to have pending cases in court, and is also obliged to sign in at the police station in Valletta by order of the courts.

So far it is not known what the two men argued about, except for the fact that one of them had a knife on him which he used to stab his brother with.

District Police and officers from the Rapid Intervention Unit were on site within a few minutes but the aggressor was nowhere to be found. The search for the aggressor is still ongoing.

A spokesman for the police confirmed that the victim suffered slight injuries.

The aggressor was interrogated when he turned up at the Valletta police station to sign his bail book.
