Updated | Corpse recovered from Wied Ghammieq

A body was recovered from Wied Ghammieq, Kalkara, earlier this afternoon.

MaltaToday is informed that the body was hoisted out of the sea by the Armed Forces of Malta.

The victim has been identified as Victor Musu, 74 of Kalkara. An autopsy will be carried out to determine the cause of death.

The man’s body was spotted floating in the sea by passers-by who immediately alerted the police. Although investigations by the police are at early stages, preliminary investigations suggest the man was fishing when he fell into the sea and drowned.

Inspector Robert Said Sarreo, Sergeant Mark Mercieca and constable Jean Paul Young are investigating.
