Four drivers escaped unharmed from a four-car pile-up that occurred earlier this afternoon at the entrance of the St Venera Tunnels.

A Suzuki Alto going towards Marsa stopped for unknown reasons at the tunnel entrance, causing the three vehicles behind it to crash. The other cars were a Toyota van, a DAF water bowser and a Toyota Corolla.

Although the drivers were under shock, none of them suffered grievous injuries. The two ambulances called on site left the scene empty.

The incident happened at around 1:30pm.

Three traffic officers were immediately dispatched on site and moments later the road was cleared with traffic returning to normal.
