‘Burglar was wearing gorilla mask’, neighbour tells police

Apartment owner says man wearing black and gorilla mask tried to ransack apartment, but police do not find alleged burglar.

Police from the Rapid Intervention Unit this afternoon responded to a call in Misraħ Kola, limits of Attard, after they were alerted that a man in a black outfit, wearing a gorilla mask, was attempting to commit a burglary in an apartment.

The caller, a 24-year-old, claimed the “masked man” was a thief, who could also have been wearing dark gloves.

RIU units were on the scene within a few minutes, and entered the apartment buildling where they talked to the caller. Nobody was found in a search in the building and on its roof, but police noticed that one of the doors had damaged, the apartment was not ransacked.

Police Inspector Fabian Fleri from the CID and District Inspector Priscilla Caruana investigated the case.
