Child, 3, falls two-metre height from Splash & Fun slide

Workers sent to fix missing safety railing after accident, but police say they were not informed of incident • investigation underway, child not in danger.

A three-year-old girl, born in the UK, fell a height of two metres from a chute at the Splash & Fun Park, of Bahar ic-Caghaq, gave way.

The girl was said to have fallen on the concrete floor beneath, when the accident, which happened in the kids’ area, occurred.

Eyewitnesses told MaltaToday that the girl fell from a part of the chute that had part of its safety railing missing.

She was given first aid by people who were on the spot until the ambulance arrived and took the little child and her parents to Mater Dei.

The eyewitness said that the park’s employees were deployed to fix the railing before the police arrived on the scene.

But police were said to have taken over an hour to arrive on the spot after the accident took place.

In comments to MaltaToday, the police said that they had not been alerted to the accident. The police arrived on the spot at 3:30pm, and ordered workers to stop their works so that police officers investigate the incident.

A police spokesperson said the child was not in danger and luckily she suffred slight injuries.
