Noel Farrugia, 34, escaped unhurt when his vehicle was engulfed in flames in Santa Venera.

Farrugia was driving his Peugeot 106 in Triq il-Kapillan Mifsud when the car caught fire. Farrugia managed to get out of the car in time after passers-by pointed out the car was fire.

His efforts to tame the flames proved to be futile and members of the Civil Protection Department were called on site.

The car was totally destroyed in the blaze.

Motorists are advised to avoid passing through Triq il-Kappillan Mifsud, due to slow-moving traffic.

No one was injured in the incident, although the driver was visibly shocked.
