Two drivers hospitalized after heavy vehicle collision

Head-on collision in St Andrews, road kept closed waiting medical certificate

Two drivers were injured in a collision involving a trailer and a truck carring a heavy skip in Triq Sant' Andrija, limits of St Andrews, this morning at around 10.20am.

The GAF trailer, driven by a 37-year-old man from Birżebbuġa, was going towards St Julians while the Leyland truck, driven by a 41-year-old man from Msida, was going in the opposite direction. The collision happened when the two heavy vehicles arrived near the High Ridge exit.

An ambulance took both drivers to Mater Dei Hospital for further treatment. The Msida man was certified to be suffering from slight injuries while the other is still being evaluated by the medical team but he is not in danger of loss of life.

District Police from the Swieqi Police Station are investigating the accident. The road was closed to traffic for some time after the incident.
