€500 stolen in second hold-up this week

Pet shop in Balzan held up • police on the search

The police are investigating a second hold-up this week, this time at a pet shop in Balzan.

The robbery took place at 6.30pm in Balzan valley. The police said the robber made off with €500 cash.

According to media reports, the thief was armed with a knife and threatened the shop owner, a woman.

This is the second hold-up this week, after an armed and masked man held up a Maypole store in Attard. The robbery in Attard occurred at around 7.30pm and a customer, a pregnant woman, was also robbed.

In both cases the thief managed to escape.

Police investigations are underway.
