(Updated) Police search for woman lost at sea

Woman was reported to have been pulled into the sea at Dwejra, Gozo. Search called off and is to resume early tomorrow morning

Update

The search for a 27-year-old Chinese woman who was dragged out to sea by a big wave in Dwejra Gozo earlier this afternoon had to be called off because of the sea conditions. Weather permitting the search should resume early tomorrow morning.

At around 2.00p.m. Gozitan Police were alerted that Chinese national was swept away by the waves, while she was with her friend, who was treated at Gozo General Hospital, for the shock she sufferred.

In a separate case a Hungarian male aged 37 years, is also being treating at the same hospital since he too was swept away by the waves also at Dwejra. The Police, and CPD were on site while a search was conducted by an AFM helicopter.

Later in the afternoon the search had to be called off because of the sea conditions.

 

The police have been alerted to the disappeareance of a woman at sea at Dwejra, Gozo.

The woman was said to be a Chinese or Asian national, reportedly having been pulled into the water by the rough seas.

A rescue mission is underway.
