Four Romanian individuals have been identified as the culprits behind the theft of jewelry from a shop in Gozo last month

An international arrest warrant has been issued for four Romanians who stole jewelry from a shop in Gozo last month.

The theft took place on 26 August, in a shop in Triq il-Palma, Rabat. The salesperson put aside some items she was handling when the thieves requested she show them some other jewelry. Later on it was discovered that the items she put aside had disappeared.

Police identified the four individuals thanks to CCTV footage from the shop. The group had arrived in Gozo the previous day and after the incident, left Gozo and bought flight tickets for the following day. Two left for Turkey, the other two flew to Italy.

The arrest warrant means that if caught, the thieves would be returned to Malta to face charges.
