The police are investigating allegations of irregularities in tenders awarded for road construction, dating as far back as 2004.

The police investigations kicked off following reports filed by the Ministry for Gozo and a magisterial inquiry is underway.

According to a statement issued by the Gozo Ministry, the first report was filed in November 2013 and fresh reports were filed again in the past weeks.

“The Police have been given full access to elevate computers and documents belonging to three civil servants,” the ministry said.

The three Gozo ministry employees have been suspended.

According to media reports, the police descended on the Gozo Ministry and spoke to one of the individuals in question at length.
