WHY IS IT THAT THE CHURCH AND THE ANTI DIVORCE MOVEMENT ARE NOW TAKING THIS ACTION AGAINST DIVORCE WHEN THEY WELL KNEW AND KNOW THAT DIVORCES OBTAINED IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES ARE OFFICIALLY RECOGNISED IN MALTA . THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE THEIR STAND BEFORE THE FIRST FOREIGN DIVORCE WAS OFFICIALLY RECOGNISED BY GOVERNMENT AND NOT NOW. WHAT DOES THE CHURCH AND THE ANTI DIVORCE MOVEMENT REALLY WANT NOW ? QED JIPPRUVAW JIGBRU GIEHHOM ? WHAT I JUST CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY ALL THIS ADO ABOUT NOTHING AS DIVORCE IS ALREADY OFFICIALLY HERE LOCK, STOCK AND BARREL. AND IF THE VOTE FOR DIVORCE DOES NOT PASS ARE FOREIGN OBTAINED DIVORCES STILL TO BE RECOGNIZED BY THE STATE ?

@the anti-divorce movement. WHY ALL THIS HULLABALLO ? WHEN GOVT HAS BEEN AND IS STILL ACCEPTING AND RECOGNIZING DIVORCES OBTAINED IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES BY MALTESE CITIZENS. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FOREIGN OBTAINED DIVORCE AND A WOULD BE LOCAL ONE ? IS IT A MATTER OF ONE WHO CAN AFFORD IT AND ONE WHO CANNOT ?

I would like to ask the anti-divorcists : Where in the bible Christ refers to annulment?
avatar
If a couple cannot get their act together they are heading for a break-up no matter what. And if they stay together creating a tense atmosphere at home or even worse if there are arguments and fights...now is this what provides children with a healthy environment ??

@Monique - great minds think alike :-) seriously, nobody is rethinking about seperating now in any case. although there is no divorce yet..

There's only one question I want to ask the NO movement: What harm does divorce do, which is not also done by annulment and/or separation?
avatar
Somehow...i can hear the answer already. Its predictible. It goes like this: A couple will rethink a separation if there is no divorce available. As if !! Going through a separation is by far more painful than the following divorce which is only a logical consequence. Nobody takes a break-up lightly

I was going to post exactly the same question as --employee Please could you pass on this question to the anti-divorce speakers i am dying to hear an acceptable answer!!

my question is this. It is true that dissolution of marriage brings about traumas in children, conflict between spouses, heartache, financial problems and what have you. However, these things do not happen when a couple divorces but when they SEPERATE. When one divorces after 4 years of seperation, all these traumas will have already happened, and one is merely regulating what is already an established fact. So why is seperation legal and divorce not ?

Naħseb is-suġġett ma huwiex tajjeb għax id-divorzju diġa qiegħed f'pajjiżna, l-problema li bħalissa mhux qiegħed għal kulħadd. Qiegħed biss għand dawk li għandhom il-ħbieb il-kurja u jakkwistaw xi 3 annullamenti ġo familja waħda u dawk li huma sinjuri li jistgħu jmorru barra u japplikaw għad-divorzju hemm imbagħad jiġu u jirreġistrah Malta. Mela tidħol il-liġi tad-divorzju allura kulħadd ikollu l-istess drittijiet u dmirijiet, fil-preżent għandna biss l-istess dmirijiet, imma mhux l-istess drittijiet.
