The Nationalist Party is not simply showering people with money but proposing a vision for the future, Alex Borg told supporters in Attard on Tuesday evening.

The PN leader said the party had presented a plan to reduce electricity prices, a commitment that will be implemented in the first budget. “We have a clear plan and are determined so as from 1 January [2027] we will have lower electricity prices,” Borg said.

He then took a dig at the Labour Party over its criticism of the PN’s energy plan: “They used Joseph Muscat to criticise our proposal.”

Borg referred to the proposal announced on Tuesday morning of an offshore maritime fuel hub at Hurd’s Bank, which he described as a new economic niche.

The PN leader then urged voters to use their vote to give Malta a new direction in the election to be held on 30 May. “Join us; use your vote to give this country a new direction,” he said to resounding applause.

In an impassioned speech, former PN leader Bernard Grech urged people to go out and vote if they wanted the country to experience a fresh start. “It’s useless complaining about traffic if you do not go out and vote because you will remain stuck in traffic the day after the election,” Grech said.

During the event, the Nationalist candidates contesting the 11 District were introduced. These are: Ivan Bartolo, Dione Borg, Rebekah Borg, Edmond Cuschieri, Bernard Grech and Joseph Grech.
