Muscat says that PM more concerned with keeping party intact
Muscat insists that the Labour party is close to the people and that is why it moved a motion against the salary and honoraria increments
Talking at the Rabat Labour party club PL leader Joseph Muscat stressed the need for a new political movement to govern the country. He said that the Labour party would not be party to a debate on the rise in salaries in the select committee.
He insisted that the Labour party was right in objecting to the €500 weekly rise for parliamentarians and was definitely on the right side of ‘history.’ His speech came after a motion he moved against government was defeated in the house, after PN maverick Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando decided to renege on voting with the opposition.
Muscat told the packed party club that no Prime Minister should have awarded such high salary increases in such a negative economic climate.
Muscat said that the Prime Minister is wasting all his energies to keep his party together and in doing so was neglecting matters related to governing the country.
