The southbound carriageway just before the Kappara Junction flyover have been closed to traffic after a trailer lost control, crashing into the barricades and blocking both lanes.
No one was injured in the accident that occured around 2pm. The incident could have had far more serious consequences since a petrol station is located just metres away from where the trailer stopped.

At the time of the incident the roads were wet following a heavy downpour.
The trailer is currently stuck on the wall opposite the barricades. One of the northbound carraigeway lanes is also blocked to traffic because of an electricity pole that was toppled in the accident.

Police were on the scene controlling traffic and carrying out investigations to determine the cause of the accident.
