Drinking glasses recalled after lead concerns
The warning follows findings that these products release high levels of lead and cadmium when they come into contact with food
A number of glasses have been recalled after being identified as a potential health hazard.
The Food Safety and Security Authority warned that glasses featuring various designs, which have been sold over the past two years, should no longer be used. The warning follows findings that these products release high levels of lead and cadmium when they come into contact with food.
The authority stated that the presence of these metals exceeds safe limits and poses a serious risk to consumer health.
The recall specifically applies to 220ml glasses with different designs, including pumpkin, orange, small red hearts, strawberry, and yellow lemon prints, all of which have been sold at various times since early 2024.
Consumers have been urged to stop using these glasses immediately.
For further information, the public can contact the Food Safety Authority by phone during weekday office hours or via email.
