Adrian Delia claims he was threatened by candidate ambassador's partner
PN MP Adrian Delia flagged a case of breach of privilege after the partner of Roseanne Camilleri sent him threatening messages a day after Delia grilled her in the Public Appointments Committee
PN MP Adrian Delia has flagged what he described as a case of breach of privilege after the partner of a potential ambassador sent him a threatening message.
On Monday, Delia informed the Speaker of the case which happened following a meeting of the Public Appointments Committee last week.
Delia stated that among threatening messages, the individual told him, "Even the devil can quote scripture."
During that meeting, the committee grilled Marco Micallef and Roseanne Camilleri for the roles of Resident Ambassador to the United States and Non-Resident Ambassador to Liechtenstein respectively.
MaltaToday revisited the hearing on Parliament’s website.
During the session, Delia heavily grilled Roseanne Camilleri, who had served as CEO of Primary Health Care over reports of massive cost overruns in relation to the refurbishment of the Birkirkara and Qormi health centres.
Delia continuously pressed Camilleri over those reports, as she assured him that she had reported the case to the Permanent Secretary within the Health Ministry.
During the end of his questioning, Delia asked Camilleri whether she had already been summoned to the Public Appointments Committee before, to which she responded that she had been summoned about a year earlier but that appointment fell through as she had been placed on precautionary suspension over the cost overruns.
“So am I to understand that this ambassador position kept waiting for you?” Delia asked.
“I don’t know,” she responded.
