Med tech company invests €150 million in Malta

Medical tech company Vantive are now Malta’s largest foreign direct investment after a €150 investment.

The project represents the largest single foreign direct investment in Malta's history. The investment is expected to generate 250 new jobs, primarily within the fields of science and technology.

The project involves manufacturing and research facilities that will produce essential plastic medical devices and consumables required for kidney care. Construction on the site is scheduled to commence within the coming weeks. Prime Minister Robert Abela described the investment as a significant vote of confidence in the Maltese economy.

The prime minister noted that Malta has already established a successful ecosystem in pharmaceuticals and advanced manufacturing, including medical device production and research. Economy Minister Silvio Schembri added that the investment resulted from months of negotiations and reflects the type of innovation-led, export-oriented industry that Malta seeks to attract.

Brian Tabone, Senior Director for Manufacturing Strategy at Vantive, stated that the company selected Malta due to its reputation in manufacturing, strategic location, and its skilled workforce. 

He explained that the new facility will allow Vantive to strengthen its local operations while fulfilling its mission to provide life-extending medical equipment to patients globally.
