Franco Fenech, Yorgen Fenech's older brother, passes away

Franco Fenech, the elder brother of Yorgen Fenech, has died suddenly, MaltaToday is informed.

It is understood that he died while on the Greek island of Corfu.

Franco Fenech, together with his brother, are the only sons of the late businessman George Fenech, who passed away in 2014. George Fenech was the chairman and managing director of Tumas Group, and had grown the business into a major local player.

Following the 2019 arrest of Yorgen Fenech over his alleged role in masterminding the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, Franco replaced Yorgen Fenech as a director in the company. However, he did not remain director of the company.

Franco, who was in his late 40s, was known as a boxing enthusiast and was based in London.

Yorgen Fenech, now the only surviving son of George Fenech, is expected to go on trial over the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
