Prime Minister Robert Abela inaugurated the completion of the expansion project at De La Rue’s facility in Bulebel.

Accompanied by Economy Minister Silvio Schembri, the Prime Minister visited the expanded factory, which represents a private investment of nearly €60 million since work on the project began in 2022.

The expansion is expected to create additional high-quality jobs while introducing modern technology, specialised training opportunities and more advanced production processes in the facility. The project also includes investment in advanced visual systems and upgraded manufacturing infrastructure.

Addressing those present during the inauguration, Abela described De La Rue as a key partner in Malta’s economic progress and said investments of this scale are the result of a climate of stability, trust and economic policies designed to support both businesses and families.

He noted that despite major international developments within the De La Rue group, Malta has remained central to the company’s future plans.

Abela praised the company for continuing to invest in Maltese and Gozitan employees through training and quality employment opportunities.

Meanwhile, Silvio Schembri said that Malta continues to offer positive prospects and new opportunities for international investors.

Schembri said the stable economic environment has helped give major international companies the confidence to continue expanding their operations in Malta.
