Prime Minister Robert Abela has submitted his nomination for confirmation as Labour Party leader, in line with party statute requirements ahead of an Extraordinary General Conference scheduled for next week following the general election.
Abela is seeking confirmation from party delegates, who will vote on the Labour Party leadership after the party secured a historic fourth consecutive electoral victory.
In recent days, Deputy Leader for Parliamentary Affairs Ian Borg and Deputy Leader for Party Affairs Alex Agius Saliba also submitted their nominations for confirmation in their respective roles.
Delegates will be able to cast their votes on Tuesday, 30 June, following the opening of the General Conference. Voting will continue on Wednesday from 9am to 8pm at the National Labour Centre and from 4pm to 7pm at the Labour Centre in Sannat.
The Labour Party's General Conference, themed "INT Malta: Your Dream, Our Project", will conclude on 2 July at the National Labour Centre with addresses by the prime minister, the deputy leaders and the party president.
