PN calls on Miriam Dalli to resign over power cut crisis
The Opposition slams Energy Minister Miriam Dalli's insistence to place blame on previous Nationalist administrations

The Nationalist Party has once again called for Energy Minister Miriam Dalli to shoulder political responsibility over yet another summer of power cuts.
PN MPs Mark Anthony Sammut and Darren Carabott addressed a press conference outside the Energy Ministry on Monday where they announced that the Opposition Whip sent parliament's House Business Committee a request to discuss the motion that was previously tabled.
The motion called on parliament to condemn Miriam Dalli's actions in the wake of consecutive summers dominated by power cuts in unbearable temperatures.
Mark Anthony Sammut listed a number of localities and specific roads that endured long power cuts over a number of hours and days.

The PN slammed Dalli's insistence to place blame on previous Nationalist administrations, as they mentioned a 2024 NAO report which flagged dwindling investment in Enemalta's high voltage network despite a rise in demand. The MP further noted that Enemalta has continuously failed to submit its report on its network development.
Meanwhile, Darren Carabott insisted that the current power outages are the result of a lack of planning resulting in management by crisis.
Apart from Dalli's resignation, the MPs want automatic compensation for those who suffered financially due to the power cuts, as well as details on the network cable faults and investment in the same network.
