Cabinet approves legal notice classifying White Rocks as national park

Government further listed some of its first legislative projects of the new legislature, saying it has also moved a bill to establish the National Commission for Human Rights and Equality to its third reading before parliament adjourned for summer recess. In addition to these legislative steps, the Personal Autonomy Act and the Protection of Vulnerable Adults Act have officially entered into force.

In the area of planning and development, government reminded that it introduced the first reading of a bill that would prohibit the commencement of new construction projects while a permit is still undergoing an appeal process. 

Health and justice reforms were also addressed in the recent legislative session.

A legal notice has expanded the list of genetic conditions eligible for Pre-implantation Genetic Testing for Monogenic Disorders (PGT-M) for those undergoing the IVF process. 

Additionally, parliament approved measures to strengthen the rule of law, including the creation of an independent appointment system for specialised administrative tribunals and increased scrutiny of the Attorney General’s decisions regarding the non-prosecution of criminal cases.
